2 Day Trek Geza to Shangri-la

This trek is a great way to cover a lot of ground without spending too much time on the road. Starting off in the morning, we take a one hour drive to a village in the southern Geza valley. The villages in the area boast huge Tibetan homes in this beautiful, tucked away valley.

We’ll drop into drop into the mountain village before heading off up a narrow valley surrounded by forest and pass through small little exposures of cattle grazing land. Late in the afternoon we’ll arrive at our 4200m campsite. As usual with treks around the area, we’ll set up our tents and duck inside the wooden herder hut to cook up a great dinner.

In the morning of day 2, we’ll pack up gear and continue off in a new direction back toward Shangri-la. The path continues uphill and follows closely to a ridge line at 4400m. On a clear day, we can get great views of distant peaks and some of the more spectacular peaks around the Shangri-la area.

We’ll continue along the path down through the valley on the Shangri-la side and after once again passing through many pasture lands, arrive into the village of Ra just outside of Shangri-la and near the Tiansheng Hot Springs. After a pick-up, we’ll drive back to Shangri-la in time for dinner.
